Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a direct infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The advanced stage of TB treatment is given for four months after early stage tuberculosis with the isoniazid and rifampicin drug. The keys to successful treatment are knowledge related to behavior and patient medication adherence treatment adherence of patients related to TB treatment. The purpose of this study was known the association between Knowledge and Medication Adherence of Patient with Advanced Tuberculosis Case in Pragaan Primary Healthcare Center Sumenep using a knowledge questionnaire and Adherence to Refills and Medications Scale (ARMS) with modification. This was observational study with non random sampling technic using purposive sampling. There were two variables. Knowledge as independent variable and adherence as the dependent variable. This study was conducted in March-June 2021 on 55 advanced TB patiens. Data collection was carried out at the Puskesmas and by visiting the patient's home. The results show that knowledge of advanced stage of TB patients in is in the good category by 71% (n=39) and the adherence of advanced stage of TB patients is classify as obedient by 73% (n=40). Based on the results, after the data was processed using the Spearman test. There is a association between knowledge and medication adherence of patient with advanced TB with a significance value (p) = 0,040 and a coefficient correlation value (r) = 0,278 indicates that variables have a weak correlation. The positive r value indicates the higher knowledge make higher compliance in the advanced stage of TB patients.
