Abstract

Western Superiority in Transformer 2: Revenge of the Fallen. This thesis is a study about western superiority found in Transformer 2: Revenge of the Fallen movie produced by Stephen Spielberg. The study discusses evidence of western superiority through the comparison in the story and the way America view Egypt and China. The writer tries to find out the constructions by analyzing the visualizations or nonnarrative aspects and narrative aspects from the movie. To support the analysis, the writer uses orientalism theory. It appears that orientalist constructions are reflected in the Mummy movie. This thesis attempts to express orientalist constructions in the hope that this will throw light on some of moviegoers perceptions that in the cinema productions especially Transformer 2: Revenge of The Fallen movie the West is always portrayed better than the East.
