Abstract

This study aims to compare parent-child diasporic identity as Korean Diaspora. Diaspora always referred to a context of homeland or home country. The attachment is usually cultural and personal. The one who get the strongest attachment with the homeland country is usually the first generation. This first generation here is the one who born foreign and then move to new land. This issue can be seen in An Na‘s novel A Step from Heaven. This study will use post colonial theory to portray diasporic identity between parent and the child to reveal their true post colonial identity. This study finds that eventually the one who learn to adapt in new place likely to survive and live comfortably. In other side, the one who is having displacement and there is no desire to learn would not last long and finally back to his homeland.
