Abstract
Everybody needs to have motivation for certain reasons to take action. The second and foreign language learners should be offered the opportunity to be motivated and obtain their learning motivation. This study investigates the motivational aspects favoured by Japanese Department students in taking English III Class. There were eleven students as the participants. The respondents completed 48 items questionnaire of Attitudes/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB) measuring eleven aspects of language learning motivation and one additional scale, Parental Encouragement. The intervals measured in AMTB are integrativeness, instrumentality, language anxiety, and attitudes toward the learning situation. Those twelve motivational aspects measured in AMTB influenced them to take English III Class and make them very enthusiastic and active in learning English. There are two motivational aspects dominaltly favoured by the student in English learning. They are integrative orientation and instrumental orientation.
