Abstract

Sibling rivalry is a type of competition or animosity ~rong siblings that can continue into adulthood and may drive them apart if there wj~ no active prevention from parents. Hand puppet was a method to reduce sibling rivalry events. The objective of this study was to explain the effects of hand puppet stimulation on sibling rivalry among preschool children (4-6 years old) at TK AL-Azhar Menganti Gresik. I A pre-experiment research design was used in this stuqy. Responden were 15 preschool children age 4-6 years old at TK AL-Azhar Mengan~i Gresik met inclusion criteria. Independent variable was hand puppet stimulation. Dependent variable was sibling rivalry. The data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed by Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test with the level of significant of a significant of a ≤ 0,05. The result showed that hand puppet stimulation could reduce sibling rivalry at TK AL-Azhar Menganti Gresik (p=0.014). I The conclusion of this study was hand puppet stimulati~n could reduce sibling rivalry among preschool children because in this stimulation, children could recognize their sibling, feel and understand how to be a good sibling. A nurse could use hand puppet stimulation to decrease sibling rivalry. Further researcher could used other method to overcome sibling rivalry cases.
