Abstract

The Stepford Wives is a movie about the domination of husbands to their wives. Some people believe that wives should be placed in private area, whereas the public area is dominated by husbands.The writer chooses The Stepford Wives which is made in the year of 2004 in his analysis. In analyzing this subject, the writer will use the intrinsic approach. It means that the writer interpret and analyze the literary work from the literary work itself. The writer will also use the psychological background of the character to have a better explanation about Claire's psychological condition. Beginning with her disappointed of her husband's affair, Claire changes herself from an active woman into a stay-home mother. It detennines her to make an experiment of creating perfect housewives. Claire thinks that every woman will not lose their husbands if they become stayhome mothers that always taking care of their husbands, their children, their house and their appearance. Finally, the conclusion from Claire's ambition in creating perfect housewives is that happiness does not come by itself, but it has to be struggled, such as what Claire has done. It is a must for us to have ambitions, but we always have to keep our conscience so our struggle does not tum to be disaster.
