Abstract

terms of address can be seen as another instance of the way which a speaker locates him self in his social world when he speaks. The interesting thins about paren: terms of address is the various kinds in use. The first time people learn to speak is to address is their parents before they learn another utterance and the use of parent terms of address in a family distinct from one family to another. There are many parent terms of address used by the population of the research such as, 'pape. ·, 'ayah 'bapak', 'abah' and "pak'e" to father, while: to mother are 'mama', 'ibu', 'mak' and "mak'e". This. study is done in order to know more about the use of parent terms of address ba~ed on some factors mainly; sex, educational levels of the user, situation of the conversation and generation of the user.
