Abstract

This paper discusses the result of a study on Regional Dialect The objectives of the study are to describe the lexical differences varieties of Madurese language spoken in Sampang and its distribution. In addition, the vocabulary was compared and contrasted to the vocabulary of the Madurese varieties in Bangkalan and Pamekasan to determine the status of the Madurese variety in Sampang. In this study the writer used two methods that are qualitative and quantitative. The result of the study show that in Sampang district only found differences sub dialect It is obtained from the calculation using the dialectometry formula that results 50% after it is grouped into different lexical entry. The results obtained Sampang Regency has one dialect which is divided into two West Sampang sub dialects and Eastern Sampang sub dialects. The writer concludes that the status of lexical differences in the varieties of Madurese language spoken in Sampang are dialect differences and which are divided into two sub dialect West Sampang sub dialects and Eastern Sampang sub dialects.
