Abstract

This study attempts to investigate the Gothic elements of the famous Gothic work, Dracula, by Bram Stoker. The novel was used as the main source of the data of the study. The Genetic Structuralism theory with descriptive qualitative method was implemented to analyze the Gothic elements through its fonnal elements, characters and settings; and informal elements, the socio historical background of the author. It was found that the Gothic elements of the novel were mainly developed in the characters and settings, as well as in the socio historical background of the author. Therefore, it can be concluded that analyzing the formal and informal elements of a novel is effective to reveal the Gothic elements of the novel.
