Abstract
Motivation is a psychological characteristic that contributes at the level of individual commitment. In other words, motivation is a drive that activates individuals to behave in order to attain their objective. As a manager, head nurse plays roles and responsible directly for nursing care provided for the clients. A lack of working motivation among the staffs may reduce their working quality,leading to the reduction of service quality and producing client's dissatisfaction. Rowland & Rowland suggested five roles a head nurse should perform in increasing staff's working motivation, i.e., communication, staffs career development, personal policy, salary administration, and working condition.
