Abstract
The objective of this research was to examine and explain the effect of organizational climate and culture and individual characteristics on the employee's performance and satisfaction. The research was carried out at the Diknas Office in East Kalimantan Province involving 320 employees as the respondents. This research used the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique that was processed by AMOS 4.0 program to test several hypotheses. Results of this study showed that: 1. The organizational climate had significant effect on the employee performance, but had no significant effect on the employee satisfaction. 2. The organizational culture produced significant effect on the employee satisfaction, but had no significant impact on the employee performance. 3. The individual characteristics possessed significant influence on the employee performance and satisfaction. 4. The employee performance had no Significant and negative effects on the employee satisfaction. The findings of the study became empirical evidence regarding development of human resource management theory and practice.
