Abstract
Business correspondence uses English for overseas commercial purposes, especially for multinational companies that seek to extend their operations. This is because English has become one of the most important worldwide communication languages. In this case, translators play a big part in the process of creating business correspondence. Translators must understand what the method and procedures that are used in producing the translation to convey the document's intended meaning and formality in a way that is appropriate for its intended audience. Therefore, the job of the translators become very crucial here. Based Newmark (2009), the analysis shows that the method used for translating business correspondence is Literal Translation because the translation was initially carried out like word-for word translation, but the translator then adjusts the wording according to the grammar of the target language. The procedures according to Newmark (2009) used in the analysis are six out of total of thirteen procedures, namely transference, synonymy, through-translation, shift or transposition, recognized translation, and reduction or expansion because to keep the formality of the document, business correspondence, and to deliver its context literally for the readers. Therefore, an exchange of business correspondence may aid in the establishment or maintenance of a long-term connection between local producers and international clients.
