Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know the effect of white guava (Psidium guajava L.) juice on spermatogenesis process in white rats (Rattus novergicus) that induced by lead acetate. The sample used 25 male white rats were divided into 5 groups: K as a negative control group (rat were given daily with aquadest); P(0) as a positive control group (rat were given daily with lead acetate 50 mg/kg BW orally once in a day for 14 days); P(1), P(2), and P(3) as the treatment group (rat were given daily with lead acetate 50 mg/kgBB and white guava fruit juice with 100%, 50%, 25% concentration 0.5 ml/head four hour after the lead acetate administration for 14 days). On 15th day all rats were sacrificed to observe spermatogenesis process. The results of spermatozoa quality research using the ANOVA test showed a significant differences (?> 0.05) between the control group and the treatment group. So, the optimum consentration of white guava fruit juice was 50% 0.5 ml/head/day gives effective in increeasing the process of spermatogenesis.
