Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know the Most Probable Number (MPN) of Escherichia coli bacteria in pasteurized milk sold by e-commerce in Surabaya. This study was conducted in October 2021 at Bacteriology and Mycology Laboratory, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga Surabaya. Thirty samples of pasteurized milk were taken from three e-commerce in Surabaya and examined using Most Probable Number (MPN) method. The results of this study showed that 6 samples (20%) exceeding the limit of the levels of MPN according to National Standart of Indonesia (SNI) 7388:2009 on pasteurized milk. There was 4 positif samples from e-commerce II and 2 positif samples from e-commerce III. The highest E. coli bacteria value was B2 sample with 240 APM/ml. It can be concluded thatwas 6 positive samples contaminated E. coli bacteria in pasteurized milk sold by e-commerce in Surabaya and 6 samples exceeding SNI for pasteurized milk >3 APM/ml.
