Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between perfectionism and parental burnout in working mothers moderated by perceived social support. Perfectionism is the tendency of individuals to set very high self-standards accompanied by efforts to achieve perfection and critical self-evaluation. Parental burnout is intense parental exhaustion associated with parenting, including physical and emotional exhaustion meanwhile perceived social support is an individual's belief in the availability of help from family, friends, and significant others when needed. Previous studies have shown perfectionism as a variable that is closely related to parental burnout. Especially for working mothers with high perfectionism, they can feel a certain pressure when they have to divide their time and cannot provide intensive care for their children. On the other hand, a number of studies also prove perceived social support as a stress buffer that can protect individuals from burnout. This research is a quantitative research using a questionnaire as a survey instruments. Hypothesis testing was carried out through moderating analysis with Bootstrap on the data of 263 participants, using Jamovi software version 1.6.9. The results obtained indicate that perfectionism is significantly related to parental burnout, and perceived social support has a moderating role which is also significant to the relationship between the two so in this case the intervention can be more focused on increasing social support for working mothers, rather than efforts to change the perfectionist nature itself.
