Abstract

Background: The Indonesian National Army (TNI) is a means of state defense from all forms of armed military threats from outside and within the country, against the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. As a means of national defense, it is required to have a strong physical condition and good general health, including dental health status. Dental health has an impact on the quality of human life. From a preliminary study conducted on members of Dental Fitnes in 2016, Battalion 734 Nusa Samudra showed that 82.1% of the personnel experienced dental caries. Then a preliminary study was conducted in August 2021, 77.5% experienced dental caries and stated that 80% of dental caries interfered with concentration at work. According to Preceed-Proceed Theory. Health Promotion affects Predisposing, Reinforcing and Enabling. These factors will affect the behavior of maintaining dental health which will affect oral hygiene and dental caries. Dental caries will affect the quality of life. Objective: To analyze the path of factors that affect the quality of life of members of the TNI AD Maluku Region. Methods: The population is 755 with Stratified Random Sampling technique based on rank, there are 202 officers, NCOs and enlisted as samples. Respondents were asked to fill out a questionnaire followed by OHIS and DMFT examinations. Conclusion Quality of life is influenced by dental caries originating from debris due to tooth brushing behavior. Enabling is related to behavior, but not related to Health Promotion, predisposing and reinforcing.
