Abstract
This study discusses the problem of rape culture in movie through narrative and non-narrative approaches as a representation of rape culture in the character of Lisa McVey in the movie Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey (2018). Primary data used through the movie Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey (2018). Evidence is obtained by taking screenshots of scenes and spoken dialogue which shows elements of rape culture. The movie's narrative was analysed using Alexandra Rutterford's Rape Culture Theory which helps in understanding Lisa McVey as a victim in a culture of rape, and non-narratives are analyzed by lighting, shooting technique or image angle. The results of the analysis showed that forms of manifestation of rape culture in the movie are kidnapping, threatening, and blaming the victim. Social support plays a very important role in uncovering the perpetrators and healing the victim's trauma. The active role of victim brilliantly using reverse psychology is by saying she can start a relationship with her abductor. Lisa participates in her investigation is by leaving her fingerprint and hairpin at her abductor's room.
