Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada reproduksi partisipasi politik pada website www.change.org, dengan mengeskplorasi wacana mengenai partisipasi politik menggunakan analisis wacana Norman Fairclough. Partisipasi politik merupakan usaha keikutsertaan masyarakat dalam berbagai proses politik. Sebagai sebuah konstruksi, partisipasi politik pun dapat direproduksi dari dunia ‘nyata’ ke cyberspace, salah satunya melalui medium website www.change.org. Reproduksi partisipasi politik pada change.org menghasilkan sesuatu yang berbeda dari partisipasi politik yang sebelumnya terjadi pada dunia ‘nyata’. Partisipasi politik melalui penandatangan petisi pada website ini menunjukkan hasil reproduksinya dalam hal pemanfaatan ruang publik, partisipasi, ikatan, agensi, serta bentuk tindakan yang terjadi. Kesimpulan tersebut didapat dari analisis yang dilakukan terhadap mekanisme dan wacana yang terkandung dalam teks pada website tersebut selama durasi waktu penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, penulis menemukan bahwa partisipasi politik pada website www.change.org: telah mengalami pergeseran dan pendangkalan makna. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan terjadinya pencemaran ruang publik karena mekanisme yang diterapkan change.org membuatnya menjadi pengontrol opini publik dan ruang pertukaran komoditas. Mekanisme change.org juga membangkitkan semangat demokrasi partisan serta menghasilkan agensi subyek. Teks-teks yang diproduksi oleh pengguna menciptakan tindakan kolektif dengan membangun kedekatan dan kesamaan nasib antar pengguna yang merupakan indikasi nasionalisme. Translation: This research focus on the reproduction of politic participation in the website www.change.org, by explore the discourse about politic participation using discourse analysis by Norman Fairclough. Politic participation is an attempt of people contribution in every political process. As a construction, politic participation can be reproduced from ‘real’ world to cyberspace, one of the method is from www.change.org. The reproduction of politic participation in change.org gives different result from ‘real’ politic participation. Politic participation trough the petition approval in this website show the result of reproduction in the cases of public space utilization, participation, bond, agency, and any other treatment. Those conclusion revealed by analysis that already done through the mechanism and discourse of the text in the website during research. Based on the result, researcher found that politic participation in www.change.org shifted and revealed siltation meaning. This showed by defilement of public space because of the mechanism by change.org. It makes them the controller of public opinion and space of commodity exchanges. The mechanism of change.org also stimulating partisan democracy and produce subject agency. Texts which produced by the users create a collective behavior by make a proximity and similarity of destiny between the users which are the indication of nationalism.
