Salah satu penyakit pada budidaya ikan yang membahayakan yaitu dari serangan bakteri patogen Edwardsiella tarda. Edwardseillosis pada beberapa kasus menimbulkan kematian hingga 50%. Pada kasus kronis tertentu dapat menimbulkan luka yang membesar
