Abstract

Japanese has a lot of vocabulary. Morita (1978) is stating the results of research on the Kokugo Reikai Jiten that the 11,4% verbs are written in the dictionary, 39,29% are compound verb. In Japanese, the compound verb is called fukugoudoushi. One type of fukugoudoushi that often used is V1＋komu. Combining two words cause a change of meaning occurs. Because of this, it is needed a detailed research, in order to avoid mistakes in application fukugoudoushi ~komu. This research is analyzing fukugoudoushi ~komu in Kihongo Yourei Jiten with statement of problems as follow: (1) what type of verb can be fukugoudoushi when combined with the verb komu? (2) what the pattern of meaning relation of the components fukugoudoushi ~komu? (3) how does the meaning of the verb komu on fukugoudoushi ~komu? This research used descriptive qualitative method and theory meaning of ~komu from Matsuda Fumiko. From the analysis that had been done, it can be conclude that in the Kihongo Yourei Jiten, there are 26 words that identified as fukugoudoushi ~komu. The type of verb can be fukugoudoushi ~komu are dousa doushi and henka doushi. Then, in fukugoudoushi ~komu there are five patterns of meaning relation of the components. Finally, the type of meaning of verb komu on fukugoudoushi ~komu widely used is type A that has internal movements meaning.
