AIZUCHI DALAM KOMIK DETEKTIF CONAN VOLUME 54 KARYA AOYAMA GOSHO.

Abstract
As a social individual, one cannot live without communication with
others. It works well only if there are consensus and understanding in words usage
between speakers and listeners. It is such a two-way communication in which
elements of speaking, listening, understanding, and responding or replying
become very important. Good communication occurs when the listeners reply as
responses to what are talking about. The listeners responses will invite the
speakers to adjust conversation and decide what next to be spoken. In this twoway
communication, responses become the most significant element. Within
Japanese culture, those responses, or what is so called aizuchi, are influential and
prominent in conversation. This research is analyzing aizuchi in Detective Conan
comic volume 54 with statement of problems as follow: 1. What kind of aizuchi
are used in Detective Conan comic volume 54 by Aoyama Gosho? 2. What
the most kind of aizuchi is used in Detective Conan comic volume 54 by
Aoyama Gosho? and 3. What are the functions of those kind of aizuchi in this
comic?
This bibliographical research uses qualitative descriptive method.
Starting with data reduction, elaboration, and conclusion. Data reduction includes
reading the comic in bilingual, marking words related to aizuchi concept, and
classifying data based on the statement of problems. Pragmatics is used as general
background study while theories on aizuchi proposed by Sumiko Horiguchi and
Maynard Senko come to be the specific theories to analyze this study.
The results of the research come as follow: 1. Kind of aizuchi used in
Detective Conan comic volume 54 are kind of utterance, kind of repetition, and
kind of paraphrase, 2. Type of aizuchi mostly found in this comic is kind of
utterance and 3. The functions of utterance kind of aizuchi are as continuer,
display of understanding of content, support and emphaty toward the speaker,
agreement, strong emotional response, and clarification. Aizuchi with repetition is
functioned as display of understanding of content, strong emotional response, and
clarification. Aizuchi with paraphrase is such a clarification. Absolutely,
perfection seems to be out of reach within this research. Thus, the writer suggests
the next researches interested in aizuchi study to analyze the relation between
aizuchi and sociolinguistic.
