Abstract

The health volunteer’s training is very important to improve their knowledge and attitude. Training by using simulation method can be one of effective way to improve health volunteer’s knowledge and attitude about posyandu lansia’s services. The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of training by using simulation method to health volunteer’s knowledge and attitude about Posyandu Lansia’s services (Integrated health care center for elderly). This research used an quasy experimental design. Population were health volunteer’s at Puskesmas Banua Lawas South Kalimantan, 34 respondents involved taken by using purposive sampling, devided into experiment and control group. The independent variable was training by using simulation method. The dependent variables were knowledge and attitude of health volunteer. Data collected by using questionnaires, then were analyzed by using Wilcoxon signed ranks test and Mann Whitney U-test with a level of significance α ≤ 0.05. Results has showed that there was an effect of by using simulation method to knowledge and attitude of health volunteer. On the experimental group, there were significant differences between pre and post test knowledge of health volunteer (p=0,001) and pre and post test attitude (p=0,004). On the control group, the results of pre and post test knowledge was (p = 0,65) and pre and post test attitude (p=0,41). The comparison of post test of knowledge between the two groups was p=0,009 and posttest attitude was p=0,05. It can be concluded that health volunteer’s training by using simulation method influence the knowledge and attitudes of health volunteer about Posyandu Lansia services at Puskesmas Banua Lawas. It is recommended for community health nurses to use the simulation method as an alternative method to provide training on health volunteer. Further research can examine variables that can influence the knowledge and attitudes of Posyandu Lansia’s services.
