Abstract
This study is to identify and analyze how Mimicry operates in The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift Film. The film portrayed relationship between an American as colonizer and a Japanese as colonized in the modern era. The analysis attempt to reveal the issue based on the research question of How is Mimicry experienced by Han in The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Based on Postcolonialism theory by Homi K. Bhabha used in this study, it focuses on the mimicry of the character in this film. This study will identify several frames of scenes in the film which focus on one character in this film in order to identify and investigate how Mimicry operates in this film. Identifying this film by qualitative method of film studies, the writer identified the aspects of narrative and non-narrative (camera shoots, camera angel, make-up and costume) and found that the film carried much explanation that the character experienced mimicry to fulfill his absence beside the western character. The explanation could be seen from three major points of discussion such as Han’s Western product consumption, the use of English language and how he’s helping Western character.
