Abstract
The language used by men and women are different. The different of the language used by men and women may happens in the advertisements. This is because the target reader of the advertisement is different. The advertisement should use an appropriate language used to catch the target’s attention, especially in case of adjectives. The advertisements that the writer focuses on are in a form of written text, which is in magazine. The purpose of the study is to tell how the manufacturer use the different adjectives in magazines advertisements. The advertisements are selected from two magazines, which are Vogue for women’s magazines and GQ (Gentlemen’s Quarterly) for men’s magazines. The advertisements are obtained from 4 magazines; 2 women’s magazines and 2 men’s magazines. The advertisements are beauty products both in women and men’s magazines. The writer listed the adjectives which are used in women’s magazine advertisements and men’s magazine advertisements. The result is that there are more adjectives used in women’s magazine advertisements than in men’s magazine advertisements. The writer also found that the adjectives used in women’s magazine advertisements are more varied than in men’s magazine advertisements.
