Abstract

japanese term of bullying which mean abuse, hurt and tempt someone. Ijime divided into several types; one of them is verbal ijime. Verbal ijime is when one uses word, either spoken or written to bully someone. For example is mock to someone, call someone with a mean nickname, speak rudely to someone, or gossip about someone. Ijime represented in a comic called “LIFE” which tells story of how ijime occurs in the school. Ayumu is a victim of ijime by Manami. Ayumu is accused of falling in love with Katsumi, who is the boyfriend of Manami. “LIFE” talks not only about Manami and Ayumu’s situation, but also other ijime cases of income. The analysis of this research has been conducted with context theory of Talmy Givon and theory of situation context of Halliday. Word or sentence can be a verbal ijime if the context direct to make the victim hurt.
