Abstract

The increase of mothers’ role in reproductive organs health of teenagers was affected by the knowledge of the mother. Parent’s knowledge is very important in order to maximize its role in maintaining adolescent reproductive organs health. Knowledge and the role of mothers greatly affected the reproductive organs health of mental retardation adolescents. The researcher used pre-experimental approach with one group pretest-posttest design as the research design in this research. The population in this study was mothers who have children with mental disability - C1 in SLB B.C.D Ngudi Hayu Blitar. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling technique in accordance with inclusion and exclusion criteria with 20 respondents. The dependent variables were the knowledge and the role of mothers in mental retardation-C1 adolescents’ reproductive organs health. The independent variable was health education with in group guidance method. The researcher used structured questionnaires to collect data. Data were analyzed by using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance value P ≤ 0.05. The researcher found that there is a significant influence from guidance in group to the level of mothers’ knowledge in health of adolescent’s reproductive organs (p=0.001) and to the mother’s role in health of adolescent’s reproductive organs (p=0.000). It was suggested to the special needs school that they could improve their health function and service to facilitate their students to have a health education about especially reproductive organs health.
