Objective : To indentify the pattern of analgesic used such as types, routes, doses, frequencies, durations of therapies and Drug Related Problems (DRP) that may occur. Method : Data was obtained retrospectively using time limited sampling method within period December 1st 2017 until January 31st 2018 at Hospitalization Unit of Airlangga University Hospital Surabaya. Inclusion criteria : all internal medicine patient ward who received analgesic for relieving their pain. Patient’s pain intensity was evaluated with VAS scale during hospitalized and before discharge from Airlangga University Hospital. Result : Metamizole IV was the most analgesic used (75,00%), paracetamol oral (43,18%), mefenamic acid (4,54%), codein oral (2,27%). Commonly used route of administration was Intravenous. Analgesic combination widely used were metamizol + paracetamol (20,45%) and metamizol + phentanyl patch (2,27%). 70,45% patients were upward with no pain and 29,54% patients experienced mild pain before discharged from hospital. Conclusion : Metamizole 3x1 g was the most analgesic used with the route of administration intravena. Two types DRP were identified in this study : drug interactions and dosage too low. No patients experienced severe pain before discharge from hospital
