Abstract

In this globalisation era, Japan has a lot of visitors from around the world with many purposes. With the growing amount of visitors, there is a possibility of intercultural interaction might be happened. However, during the intercultural interaction the cultural differences might detain the process of interaction and causing intercultural problems to occured. This research’s purpose is to find the intercultural problems faced by the main characters of a film “My Darling is a Foreigner”. This research use semiotic theory from Charles Sanders Peirce, with qualitative method. The research method is using literature review. The result of this research is there are few intercultural problems that faced by the main characters of the film, one main problem that can be seen is paradox of using Japanese language.
