Abstract

Low self aceptance in elderly who live in nursing home give negative effects to their lives such as shyness, severe or even recurrent depression. It is importent for elderly with psychological problem such as self acceptance to receive appropriate care. Acceptance and commitment care are interventions that developed form caring theory by Swanson to treat self acceptance of elderly who live in the nursing care. The purpose of this study was to analize the influence of ACC that increase elderly’s self acceptance who live in nursing home. Method : Design of this study is quasy experimental. The population is elderly who live in Griya Werdha Jambangan and Hargo Dedali nursing home not more than 1 year long. The sample is 42 elderly selected by purposive sampling. There are treatment and control group that chosen randomly. Independent variable is ACC intervention and dependent variable is self acceptance. Data analyzed using indepent t test and paired t test with significancy p<0.05. Result : result showed that Acceptance and Commitment Care intervention affect self acceptance. 71,8% respondents of treatment group showed moderate self acceptance level and 28,6 % showed high self acceptance level after the intervention given. 95,2% respondents of control group showed moderate self acceptance level and 4,8% showed high self acceptance level. Discussion : Acceptance and Commitment Care affects self acceptance level. Futher study should concern about factors that influence self acceptance of elderly who live in both nursing home and community.
