Abstract

Surabaya Tourism information Centre is a major gateway for tourists who visit Surabaya. All information about Surabaya can be found at this centre. Surabaya Tourism Information Centre gives accurate Information and references with very friendly service. TIC also provides map with list of seek seeing in Surabaya so tourists can esily choose their destinations. TIC always updates about the events that will be held in Surabaya, so the tourists can prepare for what events they will see. Doing an internship as information officer gave a lot knowledge and experiences to the writer. The writer was proud and happy because he got an opportunity to do the internship there. The writer got new knowledge about duties as information officer at TIC, such as serving visitors from different countries and cultures , learning tourism objects and heritage buildings in Surabaya, having discussions with other officers and also friends from different universities, and many more. The writer also learned about Balai Pemuda where his internship was done. After finishing his internship, the writer got a lot of knowledge and information about Surabaya that he never knew before. The writer also learned to adapt himself to new situations and people, especially when he was serving the visitors. By serving the visitors, the writer could practice his English speaking skill and learned how to be confidence with new people. Finally, the writer hopes that the knowledge that he got during his internship will be useful in the future. The writer suggests TIC as one of internship place, because in TIC do not only learning about Surabaya history, but also how to be a guide. TIC is the best place to apply English with tourists from other countries.
