Abstract
The writer experienced first-hand the difficulties that were found during thetranslation process. In translating legal documents for PT. Pertamina, the writer found that terminologies used for legal documents are different when written in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Besides the difference in terminology, difference in culture is also a problem in the translation of legal documents. The next difficulty that the writer faced in translating legal documents was regarding the accuracy of the translation from the source language (English) to target language (Bahasa Indonesia). The first solution that had to be applied was regarding the difficulties in terminology when conducting translation activity of legal documents for PT. Pertamina. The solution that was made regarding this difficulty is by not translating the term ship-to-ship (STS). The second solution that was needed to be made is regarding the accuracy of the document’ translation itself. According to amusbahasainggris.com, the word “rigged” is able to be translated into words such as dicurangi, dilengkapi, and dipasang. The word “rigged” from the excerpt in the previous sub-section should be replaced by the word “dipasang” which means “equipped” as it fits the context the best.
