Abstract

This study examines patterns of social movements, with a case study the movement patterns of Save Street Child Surabaya community in their efforts to improve the accessibility of education for marginalized children in Surabaya, as well as in their efforts to improve the government of Surabaya to make policies in favor of marginalized children in Surabaya. This study used a new social movement theory to analyze the movement strategy of Save Street Child Surabaya, The aim of this study is to describe the movement strategy of Save Street Child Surabaya, especially in improving the accessibility of education for marginalized children in Surabaya, and its relation with the policy of the government of Surabaya, The main problem in this research is how Save Street Child Surabaya 's strategy to realize their dream as a social movement that focus on improving access to education for marginalized children and street children in Surabaya, as well as their influence on the policy of the government of Surabaya. The results showed that as the new social movements, Save Street Child Surabaya has several movement strategies in their effort to improve the accessibility of education for marginalized children in Surabaya and in their effort to realize the policy of the government of Surabaya in favor of the marginalized children in Surabaya, among which are: organizing movement, the use of new media for communication networks, publications and mass mobilization, conducting periodic recruitment of net-v members and in every opportunity, maximizing the potential and heterogeneity of the volunteers, and took a lot of outside parties to work together in terms of both financial and nonfinancial.
