Abstract

Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) is a disease of the lower urinary system in cats which etiology is unknown but the incidence of cases slightly increases due to various risk factors. This study aimed to determine what risk factors can increase FLUTD cases like a change in behavior and a low quantity of drinking water in cats as very significant risk factors. The clinical symptoms found in this study were hematuria accompanied by struvite crystals, oxalate crystals of dihydrate and monohydrate also crystals of cystine, dysuria, pollakiuria, and polyuria. The method used in this study was done by interviewing or filling out a questionnaire about the patient’s identity and history, then an examination is carried out to determine the clinical symptoms and the treatment that will be given. A total of 17 cats were diagnosed with FLUTD then analyzed with the Spearman correlation test and followed by logistic regression tests. The results of the Spearman correlation test showed a significant risk factor for the incidence of FLUTD with a probability value of p <0.05 and then a probability value of p <0.000 was obtained by logistic regression test. From the result, it can be concluded that there is a significant risk factor that is behavior change and low quantity of drinking water that can be increased incidence of FLUTD.
