Abstract

In order to make communicative subtitles, a translator should know and understand the subtitling microstrategies as well. In translating conversations, in this case, conversations from a short film, the translator should be able to deliver the meaning of the conversations in the subtitle as simply as possible. The writer used Schjoldager’s microstrategies in making the translation for the subtitle, yet she came across a few challenges during the process; one of which is when she met ambiguous words to translate. Thus, the writer now understands that a detailed research is highly needed in making translations. Keywords: microstrategies, subtitles, short film
