Abstract

This study attempts to discuss on how a person or an individual lead a small group of people to stand apart from his nation corruption and madness. With the issue of struggle, the writer is trying to find out the reason of the main character who struggles to keep him and his entire people in his clan save from the wrong horde. In analyzing the novel World of Warcraft: Rise of the Horde by Christie Golden, the writer uses the intrinsic elements that consist of character and characterization, setting, plot, and theme. However, the writer will only focuses on the character and characterization, struggle and conflict aspects of this story. The plot, setting, and character are the tools to see to find out how Durotan manage his Frostwolf people and keep them live in the old ways. Focus on Durotan as the main character, who appears differently from the other. Above all, it is all about how the Frostwolf clan, through Durotan as the leader can stand apart and survive from the Orc madness whose turning into Horde. Durotan is considered as the main character due to he is the most point of view of the story is “everyman” someone who sees what‟s going on, but is torn between standing up and fighting it and doing what will protect people he is responsible for.
