Abstract

Briefly, this article is discussing about how does formal elements such as characterization, plot, and setting works as an organic unity in supporting the theme of truth finding in Steve berry the Romanov prophecy. The interesting thing of this thesis is that the interpretation about the connection between those formal elements in constructing the story of the novel. Talking about formal elements, this article applied New Criticism theory in analyzing the topic. The text itself is the main point of analyzing using new criticism theory. In applying the theory the writer will focusing on the analysis of the formal elements or intrinsic aspect. Extrinsic aspect such as the writer background or the historical background of the text is not going to be analyzed. Because of the object of this thesis is a novel, close reading is the methodology used in analyzing the topic. The findings of this article are on how these formal elements works together as organic unity to support the prophecy. On the result of the findings, the writer concluded that the information provided by the analysis of formal elements support the theme the American supremacy over Russia. In addition, it is interesting to see how the character of Miles lord represent the voice of the author as an American who have special role in Russian future as we see the relation of these two country in the real world.
