Abstract
Background. Hardness determines the degree of deformation of a material . Proper surface finishing and polishing are critical clinic procedures. The factor determining the micromorphology of the surface of composite resin restorations after finishing and polishing include composite characteristic such as size, hardness, type and amount of particles. Small filler particles and little amount of filler, which improve quality of polishing. Materials and methods: for this purpose, 18 specimens
(5 mm diameter, 3 mm high) were prepared Vickers hardness tester was determined on the surface of restorative composite resin: group 1 control (without finishing and polishing), group 2 finishing then polishing with prisma gloss, and group 3 finishing then polishing with traditional pumice. Result: between group 1 and 2 no statistical difforence, between group 1 and 3 no statistical difference, and between group 2 and 3 no statistical difference Conclusion: No difforence existed between finished and unfinished surfaces.
