Abstract

Leucorrhea is defined as a state of condition of a vaginal discharge other than menstrual blood through vaginal tract with whitish smooth cheese like discharge, yellow green or grayish color, itchy, smells like yeast of fishy, One of vaginal discharge cause is due to moist genital condition of vaginal area. Behavior that can be affect genitals's moist are frequency of changing panties, the use of sweatabsorbing panties (cotton) , the use of loose panties or outer, and habit of drying genital using wipes, towel, or other fabric after defecating or urinating. Some of those habits can be classified as genital drying habit. Bad habits could lead to bacterial of fungus growth that can cause leuchorrhea. The aim of this study was to analyze association of genital drying habits with leucorrhea in adolescent female student in MA Masyhudiyah Gresik East Java. The study employed cross sectional method with all grade X female student MA Masyhudiyah Gresik East Java as a population. Sampling technique used in this study was total sampling method by enrolling all 64 sample that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The result of the reasearch shown that 62,5% respondents has got leucorrhea and 56,2% respondents had a good genital drying habit. Chi-square data analysis result between those two variables shown a significance value significance value (p=0,037) and contingency coefficient of = 0,281 (p value = 0,019) In conclusion, this study shown that there was a low-strength significant association beween the habits of genital drying with vaginal discharge occurrence in adolescent female student in MA Masyhudiyah Gresik East Java .
