Abstract
This study examines on how stereotyping of black American in The Blind Side film by John Lee Hancock. It tells about Michael Oher, a homeless, uneducated, and traumatized teenage African-American who is being adopted with a white American, Leigh Anne. She gives Michael a place to stay, a personal tutor to teach him until he being a successful person. But not all people have the same think like Leigh Anne. They afraid of the existence of a black American in their envirorunent, while black people known as poor, bad, and rough. Leigh Anne does not care about all people's perception on Michael. She thinks that she must do this because she wanted to be a good Christian. After analyzing the object through its narrative and non-narrative aspects and also by collecting data from books, articles, journals, and other sources that can support this study, it finds that stereotyping of Michael as an African-American represent him as the 'otherness', powerless, and being fantasied by white American.
