Abstract

This study is going to analyze the personality of the main character in William Saroyan's novel entitled One Day in the Afternoon of the World whose name is Yep Muscat. It is interesting to know the personality of the main character as depicted in the story since the description the main character shows that he has an excellent personality. The description of the personality of the main character shows the certain phylosophy called trancenden-talism. Briefly, it is the idealism that trust to human intuation as the good guidance in human's life. It is the divine thing in human heing so it can guide human to face this life well. This idealism can create a specific personality to human being.
