Abstract

This study tries to answer three statements of problems they are to find out the interjections uttered by the characters in "Monster University" movie, to clarify what type of interjection is, and to identify its functions. The subject of this study is the interjections uttered by the character in "Monster University" movie. To make easier in analyzing the data, the writer consider the original script of the movie as the secondary data. In this study the writer uses descriptive qualitative approach. The result is that most of the interjections in "Monster University" movie have expressive function, and most of the types of interjection uttered are the primary interjections. The writer concludes that the writer found many interjections uttered by the character in this movie through selecting the dialogue that contain them, the interjections contain all of the function and type categorization by Ameka (1992) those are expressive, conative, and phatic function.
