Abstract
The existence of Cosplay as one manifestation of fanwork is part of the scope of copyright. In this case, the elements used in Cosplay costumes are parts of the design of original characters used by the manufacturer to make the Cosplay costume. Meanwhile, the creator of the character design normally does not give any permission to the creator of Cosplay costumes. Another factor to take into account is that it is uncommon for Cosplay costume makers to use their creations for commercial purposes. This clash of interests can potentially result in various legal problems related to copyright. Therefore, it is necessary to do a legal research on this phenomenon for all parties to protect their interests and to have an equal standing before the law.The method used in the making of this thesis is the normative juridical method, complemented with statute approach and conceptual approach.
