Abstract

This study to determine the effect of giving kembang bulan leaf extract (Tithonia diversifolia) on blood glucose levels and body weight of rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by streptozotocin. This study used 20 male rats divided into 5 groups namely K (-), K (+), P1, P2, and P3. To make diabetes mellitus rats used a single dose of streptozotocin 45 mg/kgBW intraperitoneally (IP). Then treated with kembang bulan leaf extract for 14 days. Blood glucose levels and body weight of rats were measured on the 8th, 10th, 12th, 17th, and 24th days. Analysis using Repeated Measures, One-Way ANOVA followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test. Results of analysis of blood glucose levels with Repeated Measures show significance value (p <0.05). Analysis results One-Way ANOVA followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test shows P2 (????¯ = 171.00 ± 26.505) is not significantly different from K (-) (????¯ = 115.80 ± 7,225).Weight analysis results with Repeated Measures show significance value (p <0.05). Analysis results One-Way ANOVA followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test shows P2 (????¯ = 190.80 ± 14,481) is not significantly different from K (-) (????¯ = 167.00 ± 19.105). It could be concluded that the extract of the kembang bulan leaf extract (Tithonia diversifolia) can reduce blood glucose levels and increase body weight of rats (Rattus norvegicus) over time and interactions occur with P2 (200mg / kgBB kembang bulan leaf extract) is an effective dose.
