Abstract

Information needs are the most basic things in human life modern. Adolescent is a period in which the transition occurs, where the search for identity occurred, where the past - being vulnerable period occurs, the information will be greatly influenced the development of adolescents. Teenage boys - and girl have different world, has a personality and a role that is not necessarily the same, it will result in differences in the information needs and information channels used in the fulfillment of such information. Research titled URBAN YOUTH NEEDS INFORMATION ( Descriptive Study On Difference Between Information Needs of Youth Men and Women at SMAN 21 and SMAN 20 Surabaya) aims to describe the information needs of urban teenagers in Surabaya , and picture of the differences that occur between the information needs of adolescents the gender - male and female adolescents with sex in the city of Surabaya. Kuantitatif using descriptive method using a sample totaled 50 teenage boys and 50 girls, the data are interpreted using the theory of information needs, adolescence and adolescent personality.
