Abstract
Background: Tea is a drink that commonly consumed by Indonesian people. One kind of tea which have high benefit is green tea. Green tea has compounds that work on a blood vessel through a blockade of α-1 receptor adrenergic by inhibiting the secretion of adrenaline and noradrenaline. That process can cause vasodilation of blood vessels that can lower blood pressure and pulse rate. Pre-extraction patients have physiological symptoms, there are: increasing of blood pressure and pulse rate. Autonomic nervous system are affected by fear will pass it to the medulla adrenaline, so that the secretion of catecholamines in the medulla adrenaline will increase, it can cause vasoconstriction of the arteries and as trigger a heart rate and heart constriction. So, that process can increased blood pressure and pulse rate. Purpose:Find out the effects of green tea against the value of blood pressure and pulse rate in pre-extraction patients. Methods: The sample group was the control group with the pure water and the treatment group with the provision of green tea steeping. Measurement of blood pressure and pulse rate done twice. The first measurements after the patients were given informed consent and a second measurement after 30 minutes of drinking green tea steeping. Result:provision of green tea stepping can decreaseblood pressure and pulse rate in pre-extractionpatients. Conclusion: Green tea stepping have a significant effect to decrease blood pressure and pulse rate.
