Abstract

English has become an important lesson in the Indonesian curriculum taught in schools. Starting from the level of Kindergarten to Senior High School, this lesson is taught. The role of the teacher in the school also affects students in understanding English. Teacher Talk is the teacher's ability to teach in class. The purpose of this study was to analyze interactions between teachers and students and analyze types of Teacher Talk. Interaction in Teacher Talk classes and types is analyzed based on the FLINT model by Gertrude Moskowitz as quoted in Brown (2001). The data were collected from the 7-D class of SMP Negeri 1 Pogalan Trenggalek for two weeks of teaching and learning activities. This study found that there was only one type of Teacher Talk that was not used and the type most often used was Asking Question. This study concluded that teachers in SMP Negeri 1 Pogalan Trenggalek should use the Indirect Influence Teacher Talk to start and interact in class.
