Abstract

Coffee shop business is currently growing rapidly, the demand and interest in the barista profession has also increased. Barista has big responsibility in the coffee industry because the baristas are dealing directly with customers. We aare now an era ―third waves coffee‖ where barista focuse on the taste that can be produced by beans, refreshing and delicious acidity, which has a complex flavour. This phenomenon shows that profession as a barista does require passion. Passion refresh to strong tendencies toward object or activities that are liked and considered important by individuals, and provide time and energy, as well as passionate activities internalized in one‘s identity. Passion is divided into two parts, namely harmonious and obsesive. This study aims to identify passion in the barista profession. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The informant in this study amounted to 6 people who had met the criteria which had been involved in the profession as a barista for quite a long time. The result of the identification in this study indicate that the passion possessed by a barista is a harmonious passion.
