Abstract

The portrayal of power concept from western toward eastern can be seen in many western media, for example is American movie, The Great Wall.This movie is American Chinese movie with the dominance of Chinese from the setting, characters and plot.The movie tries to portray an equality to make western and eastern seen as an equal and do not elevate one character to the others character which is colonized and colonizer. However, the depictions dominance of the power western characterization are still seen from going native process, yet power portrayal of western appeared here. This research was done to find out how the representation of going native concept is shown in The Great Wall characters. This research used qualitative approach with descriptive explanation. The data collected from The Great Wall film in captured scene form. The method used in this research is narrative and non-narrative theory of films.The Great Wall film is an American Chinese film that released in Indonesia in May 2016. The writer bought the original version in Google Play store. From the result, researcher found that the Postcolonialism is represented in The Great Wall characters through going native concept. The results also indicate that orientalism can be found even in Chinese dominance film.Moreover, society do not concern to this, though the power portrayal from western can be seen from native Chinese film. Furthermore, the result will provide more knowledge to the public that the depiction of colonialism through the media or so called post colonialism is still thick on every American Asian film.
