Abstract

Teaching writing descriptive paragraph through practices in sentence building for seven grade students has some pleasure and problems. The problems include what difficulties that seven grade students had in writing sentences and descriptive paragraphs, and how the teacher helped the students to make sentences and descriptive paragraphs. The writer tried to find out the solution to solve the problems. First, the writer gave the students some practices such as writing descriptive paragraphs or producing sentences by working individually, in pair, and in group. The writer paid attention to their writing and realized that there were some problems on their writing. Most of the students did not know any vocabularies, what tenses they should use, and they also could not distinguish subject, verb, and complement. Therefore, the writer found some ways to make the students able to write paragraphs or sentences correctly. She decided to teach by giving some aids like pictures, materials, and flashcards. The writer also divided the students into several groups, and sometimes she asked the students to work in pairs in order to make students could work well.
