Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the validity of several weight estimation formulas used to estimate the unfasted of Limousin bull samples. Validity is obtained through analyzing correlation value and significance value. The heart girth, body length and bodyweight of 30 unfasted Limousin bulls were measured. The samples used are male Limousin with 2-3 pairs of dentis incisivus, minimum scaled weight of 300 kg, and were last fed 3-6 hours before scaling. The heart girth is used to estimate weight according to Schoorl Formula and Rondo Tape methods. The heart girth and body length are used to estimate weight according to Schaeffer formula and its derivations; Lambourne according to Kusuma (2016), Lambourne according to Wahyudin (2008) and Rumus Modifikasi. The correlation value is determined using Pearson Correlation analysis included in Paired t-Test of IBM SPSS 26 Free Trial. The significance value is determined using Paired t-Test of IBM SPSS 26 Free Trial. The results indicated that Lambourne formula stated by Wahyudin (2008) has the best validity when used to estimate the unfasted bodyweight of Limousin bull samples.
